Although there is an abundance of non-profit fiscal sponsors for media projects, servicing fees required of students and independent filmmakers are rising, in some cases reaching as much as 60% of the entire donation. Furthermore, the growing distress in the economy has shrunk the number of production grants available in the market, further increasing competition for funding and making it impossible for some students to finance their graduation projects.
